Ubuntu –
The philosophy of humanity
An anthropologist introduced a new game to children of an African tribe.
He placed a basket full of fruit near a tree and told them that whoever got there first would win the sweet fruit.
When he gave them the starting signal, they all ran together and held hands, then sat down together and enjoyed their treats.
When he asked them why they ran like that, when everyone had the chance to win the fruit for themselves, they said:
"How can any of us be happy
when everyone else is sad?
Ubuntu in Xhosa culture means:
I am because we are.
