Preparations for fasting
Ideally, you should begin the following preparations about a week before starting the fast:
-
- Start the day by dry brushing your entire body, followed by a hot shower. Finish with a short cold shower (first your legs, then your arms, moving from your extremities toward your torso, first on the right, then on the left).
-
- To prepare for cleansing the liver and intestines, drink a glass of bitter water on an empty stomach in the morning, half an hour before breakfast or before taking medication. You can achieve a milder effect by drinking a glass of lukewarm water on an empty stomach. To make the bitter water, add a level teaspoon of Epsom salts to a little water in the evening and top up with lukewarm water to 250 ml in the morning.
-
- Take your time when eating and enjoy every bite by chewing thoroughly.
-
- Avoid snacking between meals and drink plenty of fluids instead, 2-3 liters, preferably good water, herbal teas, "clear vegetable broth," or mineral water.
-
- Whenever possible, skip dinner!
-
- Avoid nicotine, alcohol, coffee, sugar, and foods that are difficult to digest, as well as large portions of raw vegetables, fruit juices, and coarse whole grains.
-
- If you exercise more and go to bed earlier, you will prepare your body ideally for the fasting period.
